How Mayo And Cookie Dough Are Part Of A Mission To Revolutionize Food Production

Hampton Creek is a food technology company based in San Francisco. Since 2011, they have been developing foods that are free of animal products and other potentially harmful ingredients like preservatives and trans fats. Rather than marketing itself strictly to vegan customers, the company tries to highlight the quality ingredients in Hampton Creek foods that make them delicious and affordable for everyone. Currently Hampton Creek offers dressings and cookie doughs, and they have plans to release a lot more products in the near future.

Hampton Creek’s line of dressings began with Just Mayo, the company’s flagship product. An eggless mayonnaise, Just Mayo is made with a pea protein derived from the Canadian yellow pea. There are currently four flavors of the product: original, sriracha, garlic, and chipotle. Hampton Creek has just released two new dressings, Just Italian and Just Ranch, which are joining Just Mayo on the shelves at Walmart.

Just Cookie Dough currently comes in two flavors, chocolate chip and peanut butter. This product is also egg-free and uses sorghum as the binding agent. Sorghum also adds some sweetness to the recipe so that it needs less sugar. These products are both available at Target Superstores and will be in all Targets by summer 2016. Through Compass Group, a large food service company, Hampton Creek also distributes Just Cookies in six different flavors.

Hampton Creek has announced 43 products ready for release, including pancakes, brownies, more salad dressings, and more baking mixes. Over the next few years, they plan to develop 500 new products including bread, pasta, and meat substitutes. Other plans for the future include developing e-commerce through the website and expanding their market around the globe.

Hampton Creek remains committed to making food that is not only healthy but environmentally friendly. Plant cultivation has a much lighter impact on the environment because it consumes fewer resources. In addition, plants contribute far less pollution to the air, ground, and water than farm animals, which are responsible for a large percentage of greenhouse gas emissions. The company’s mission is to revolutionize food production through the use of inexpensive, sustainable, quality plant-based ingredients.
