3 Lessons Learned: Homes
It is advisable to take notes of some pointers to follow in order to prepare you in installing the crown moulding. First pointer is to locate all the studs in your walls and ceiling joist. This can be done by making some light pencil marks on the point where you see the moulding up when nailing it. The next step is to find out which way the ceiling joists are running. In a square room, this preparation is important because you have only the nailers for the top of your trim on two of the four walls. The size of your triangle nailer can be found easily by using a framing square. The nailer actually does not need to fit perfectly in order to work effectively. Another tip is not to force the nailer to the moulding that in effect will not sit flush against the wall and ceiling, and do this by leaving a little room. Next preparation is to install the nailers on the walls without the ceiling nailers. By holding the nailer against the wall and ceiling, you can pre-drill the nailer with the use of a counter sink drill bit into the studs on the walls. Then, attach to the stud using a 3 inches coarse thread drywall screw. Your next preparation is to have a reference line on the wall at the height you want the crown moulding would sit on the wall. You can do this by taking a piece of scrap moulding, place it against a wall, and then marking it with pencil at the bottom of the moulding.
